As the summer months go on the weather gets hotter, we look for ways to cool down. Many choose to cool down in the pool, sprinkler, or local splash pads. But why not take it to the next level and go to a water park and go down the water slides while getting a thrill at the same time. Here are 10 water parks that have everything from extreme slides to kid friendly areas for the whole family.

Splashin’ Safari, Santa Claus, IN

It’s signature slide, The Mammoth, is seven stories from the highest to lowest point and covers more than three acres making it one of the world’s longest water coaster. The park also features a wave pool, geysers, sprays and jets so there is something for the whole family. This park also offers free soft drinks, parking, and sunblock.

Schlitterbahn, New Braunfels, TX

Although there are different Schlitterbahn water parks this one in particular is ranked every year in the top 10. What sets it apart from other water parks is that it has three uphill water slides. It also features seven kids’ areas, and parents can relax in heated pools and swim up bar.

Dollywood’s Splash Country, Pigeon Forge, TN

This water park has something for every member of the family. For the little ones there are water play grounds like the Cascades, with misters, bubblers and secret slides. For the thrill seekers there is River Rush, four story water coaster with multiple drops, twists and turns.

Lost Island Waterpark, Waterloo, IA

Featuring the world’s only hydromagnetic water coaster, Wailua Kapua where you can go uphill and downhill. This park also has a wave pool, lazy river, and kid’s areas. It also features mini golf, go carts, and a mermaid show.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, Orlando, FL

Still voted most popular water park year after year, this park set the standard for other water parks when it opened in 1989. Featuring the largest wave pool in the US, Humunga Kowabunga a 214 feet downhill slide at a 60-degree angle. There are also areas for the kids and a lazy river. If you are really brave you can snorkel with friendly sharks, rays and other exotic fish.

Water Country USA, Williamsburg, VA

Featuring more than 40 water rides, there is something for everyone at this park. If you ever wanted to race your friends and family down a slide you can do so on Nitro Racer. One unique feature of this water park is that it offers swim lessons and classes to help guest feel safe and confident in the water.

Noah’s Ark, Wisconsin Dells, WI

Know as America’s largest water park with 70 acres of fun. Try their Surfing Safari where you can ride surging water. There is also the Black Anaconda, ¼ mile long combination of rollercoaster and water slides.

Cowabunga Bay, Henderson, NV

Located near Las Vegas, this park features 20 slides on 23 acres. Some features include Wild Surf, a wave pool that creates the world’s largest man-made wave.  Along with Point Panic is an enclosed, pitch-black water slide.

Raging Waters, San Dimas, CA

The largest water park in California this park has 36 water slides. The Bermuda Triangle is one of the fast slides in the US at about 50 miles per hour. There is also Dragon’s Den, a bowl slide with a 45-foot drop and Neptune’s Fury, a 600-foot-long wild ride plunge.
